Annual Report 2015: Closing the Aspiration/Attainment Gap for America's Most Vulnerable Youth

Why “Closing the Aspiration-Attainment Gap?”

In spite of the nation’s steady progress in increasing high school graduation rates, nearly 1 in 5, or 750,000, students each year do not complete high school on time. Of those who do graduate from high school, far too many are unprepared for what’s next. The students we serve in our Gateway to College programs come to us significantly off track or out of school altogether. But, they come to us because they aspire to something greater. Our network supports these students on a pathway to a high school diploma AND ensures that they are ready for college.

Last year, Gateway to College programs graduated 900 students, the largest number in our network’s history, and our 41 college-based programs worked with 260 school districts around the country, leveraging $6.8 million paid towards college tuition.
