In 2016, GtCNN accelerated impact for our Gateway to College programs by developing strategies aimed at not only increasing student outcomes, but ensuring that Gateway students would graduate college and career ready. We convened Gateway to College programs last summer in our 11th Peer Learning Conference. And, we celebrated their successes by awarding our Gateway to College Program Excellence Award to several outstanding programs. In 2016, programs continued to raise the bar by graduating nearly 1,000 students, the largest number of graduates in our network’s history. Our 39 college-based programs worked with more than 250 school districts around the country, leveraging $6.8 million paid towards college tuition.
We broadened GtCNN’s impact in 2016 by growing our successful network of programs in New England, launching new initiatives in Oregon aimed at securing college pathways for some of our most vulnerable youth, and piloting a new initiative to connect students to career pathways in their communities.
